FOIA Request to Town of Elk Regarding Same Day Registered Voters for 2024 Election on November 7, 2024.
In our continued efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NC Wisconsin News have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Town of Elk. The request specifically asks for a list of new voters who registered to vote on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
As a media organization, we are committed to gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We await a response from the Town of Elk and will continue to keep our readers informed about developments in this matter.
