A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Goodrich regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
The request, made by us at NC Wisconsin News, sought a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we expressed a preference for receiving the information in an electronic format.
As a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for our work. It allows us to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
