FOIA Request to Town of Hammel Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 5, 2024.
On November 7, 2024, we at NC Wisconsin News submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Town of Hammel. The request specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In light of our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We are awaiting response from the Town of Hammel regarding this request and will continue to keep our readers updated with any developments.
