A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Woodruff in Wisconsin by NC Wisconsin News on November 7, 2024. The request specifically sought details about new voter registrations that occurred on November 5, 2024.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NC Wisconsin News believe that access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In our FOIA request, we asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. This information will help us understand the turnout and participation in the electoral process during this election cycle.

We have requested these records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and have expressed a preference for receiving them in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await a response from the Town of Woodruff and look forward to sharing this important information with our readership.
