This three part series will be taught by Michael Porter, PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison. This is a three part series, however, you can attend any at your convenience. January 19th’s session will focus on the underpinnings of our landscape, while covering the principles of geologic observation and how young the science of geology is. January 26th presentation will cover time in the Northwoods, and methods used to construct a geologic timeline. The course will conclude with our glacial home. This will be an overview of the last ice age in the Northwoods, and some of the interesting landscape features formed by the advance and retreat of the ice sheet.
