FOIA Request Sent to Iron County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Iron County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 30, 2024.

In a recent move towards transparency and accountability in the election process, we at NC Wisconsin News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Iron County Election Department. The request was sent on October 30, 2024.

The request seeks detailed information about the methods employed by the department for counting ballots in the upcoming elections. If manual counting is being used, we have also asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to such public records is crucial. It not only aids us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities but also ensures that public institutions remain accountable and transparent.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.

We await a prompt response from the Iron County Election Department and will keep our readers updated with any developments regarding this matter.
