Flambeau Hospital issued the following announcement on May 13.

Marshfield Medical Center-River Region at Stevens Point opened its doors Friday marking a continuation of Marshfield Clinic Health System's promise to expand care to Portage County residents.

“This is truly a great accomplishment to better serve our Portage County residents," said Ryan Neville, chief administrative officer, Marshfield Medical Center-Weston and interim CAO, River Region-Stevens Point. “With the hospital expansion we are able to help residents get the care they need while keeping them closer to home."

The 12-bed hospital is an expansion of the existing Marshfield Clinic Stevens Point Center at 4100 State Highway 66 in Stevens Point. The first floor of the two-story 55,000-square foot hospital features emergency services with eight treatment rooms, a trauma room, 12 hospital inpatient beds, a dining area, and lobby.

The second floor houses the surgical suite with operating and procedural rooms, surgical waiting area, administrative offices, and a conference room.

This location has continued to grow since opening Stevens Point Center in 2013. In 2017, the cancer center was built to provide oncology/hematology and radiation oncology services, as well as access to dozens of cancer-related clinical trials and services. In 2019, urgent care services was added to provide immediate health care. The urgent care has now been moved to the hospital side of the campus.

Marshfield Clinic Health System has a strong partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with education programs focused on health care. The Health System is the exclusive sports medicine partner to care for the school's 500-plus athletes and 20 sports teams.
