Northland Pines High School had the highest enrollment among Vilas County schools, welcoming 543 students during the 2024-25 academic year, according to a report from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 54.7% identified themselves as boys, and 45.3% as girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, accounting for 89% of the Northland Pines High School's total enrollment.

Among the 12 schools in Vilas County, Arbor Vitae-Woodruff Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 514 students, while Lac du Flambeau Elementary School welcomed 499 students and ranked third in the 2024-25 school year.

Northland Pines High School is a part of the Northland Pines School District, which roughly covers schools within Vilas County with its main office in Eagle River.

In the previous school year, Arbor Vitae-Woodruff Elementary School had the highest number of students among Vilas County schools.

In 2022, the teacher-to-student ratio was approximately 1:14 in Wisconsin classrooms, compared to the national average of 1:16.

Wisconsin ranks 22nd in the U.S. for public education spending, with an annual expenditure of over $16,500 per pupil, totaling $13.8 billion.
