A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County on September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024. The desired information includes the vendor's name, the date of the transaction, a description of the transaction, and the amount paid.
As journalists committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these records is essential for our work. We have requested these records in electronic format for ease of analysis and dissemination.
In line with our role as a media organization disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request. This is based on our belief that providing transparency and holding public institutions accountable are vital aspects of our professional responsibilities.
