FOIA Request to City of Eagle River Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at NC Wisconsin News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Eagle River. The request, sent on November 7, 2024, seeks to obtain a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
The information requested under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., is crucial for our comprehensive news coverage. As a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news reports about local governmental affairs, access to such public records enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively.
We believe that access to this information will contribute significantly towards holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public as a media organization, we have also requested a fee waiver associated with this FOIA request.
