FOIA Request to Town Of Georgetown Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NC Wisconsin News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town Of Georgetown. The request, made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., is for a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such records is essential for us. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively and ensure that the democratic process is open and fair.
We have requested these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and analysis. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
