Rhinelander School District had the highest enrollment among Oneida County districts, welcoming 2,298 students during the 2023-24 academic year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 52.5% of them were boys, and 47.5% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 96.1% of the Rhinelander School District's total enrollment.

Among the four districts in Oneida County, Lakeland UHS School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 726 students, while Minocqua J1 School District welcomed 561 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Rhinelander School District roughly covers schools within Oneida County, with its main office in Rhinelander.

In the previous school year, Rhinelander School District also had the highest number of students among Oneida County districts.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
