Enrollment at Merrill Area School District decreased by 4% compared to previous school year

There were 2,686 students enrolled in Merrill Area School District in the 2024-25 school year, 4% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 51.1% identified themselves as girls, 48.9% as boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 85.9% of the Merrill Area School District total enrollment.

Merrill Area School District covers seven schools within Lincoln County, with its main office in Merrill.

Among the seven schools in the district, Merrill High School recorded the highest enrollment of 756 students in the 2024-25 school year.

Wisconsin ranks 22nd in the U.S. for public education spending, with an annual expenditure of over $16,500 per pupil, totaling $13.8 billion per year.
